I’m a good sport. Actually, I’m probably the best sport. Ever. “Benefit of the doubt” is my middle name. I took home the sportsmanship award in Gus Macker Tournaments across the country. I was awarded Best Personality superlative in high school AND college, which is pretty much the good sport award. I’m not mad but I mean, really guys?
Ledisi: I’m a new fan and the girl was awesome! Newport always seems to deliver somebody on the brink of greatness. This year Ledisi (pronounced the way you get your Bic Mac) was the unsung hero of the day. She hauntingly channels Ella Fitzgerald and does a fusion of jazz, r&b, gospel and hip hop*. She performed in the middle of the Saturday main stage performances and we all new it was downhill from there.
Not what you were expecting, eh? Or maybe you were, but if you were like me (feel free to make like Yung Joc and “get like me”), this is not the image that comes to mind when you think of Kid Sister. This is. I think I’ll go with the 2008 version with the nails.
Silly rabbit. If you were’t already aware or if you have yet to turn in your Hip Hop frequent listener card, Hip hop is for kids. Apparently, Cool Kids. This post isn’t a diss or even a review (perhaps I will review their next project…then I can justify my “advances”, save my dough and/or sleep with clear conscious); it’s merely an observation of some up and coming artists that caught my ear.
